Frequently asked questions
Everything we discuss in our counselling sessions are kept private and confidential in line with Australian laws and ethical guidelines. There may be times in which information may be shared for example if a court subpoenas the counsellor to provide information.
You may be feeling a little nervous or unsure in your first session, and that’s completely normal. Our first session is a relaxed space where we’ll gently explore how you’re feeling and what has brought you to counselling. I may ask a few questions to help me understand you and your unique situation, and I’ll take some notes along the way. This note-taking simply helps me remember what’s important to you and thoughtfully support your progress moving forward.
Counselling is a supportive space to explore what’s going on for you, gain clarity, and work towards meaningful change. This may be as simple as one conversation for an immediate need, or a series of sessions depending on what feels right for you.
